NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Lonnie Spivak was elected Chairman of the Davidson County GOP in a unanimous vote in a meeting held at the Millennium Maxwell House in Nashville on Saturday.
One hundred and thirteen eligible Davidson County Republican voters attended the meeting – a dramatic increase in the 52 who voted in the Davidson County GOP chair election held two years ago in 2021. Spivak was the only candidate in the race and he was elected when the presiding officer asked all those in favor of an election to stand.
Tres Wittum had filed to run for the chair election but did not appear at Saturday’s event.
Spivak’s candidacy was placed before the assembled Davidson County Republicans in two nominating speeches, as required by the bylaws. No one offered a nominating speech for Whittum.
After his unanimous election, outgoing Davidson County GOP Chairman Jim Garret turned the proceedings over to Spivak.
Prior to the vote for Chairman, congressman John Rose (R-TN-06) and congressman Mark Green (R-TN-07) both addressed the enthusiastic crowd. Green, Rose, and Congressman Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) represent different section of Davidson County.
Chairman Spivak outlined an aggressive, seven-point plan to increase the political impact of the Republican Party in Davidson County over the next two years of his term.
